Registration takes place in the
Registration tent at the event HQ at
Caryford Hall. Registration will be
open at the following times only:
Friday 23rd
12:00 until 20:00.
Saturday 24th
07:30 until 09:15
17:00 until 18:00
Sunday 25th
07:30 until 09:15
17:00 until 18:00
Monday 26th
07:30 until 08:00
Registration desks will be marked
alphabetically, please go to the
appropriate desk for your surname.
As
ride entries are non-transferable,
you will need to register in person,
so please bring some form of
personal identification to verify
your entry i.e. driving
licence.
If
for some reason you are not able to
register in person, you can arrange
for someone to do this on your
behalf. However they will need a
letter or email of authorization
from you including your name and
address. At registration you will
be given your rider pack, please
note that nothing will be sent to
you by post prior to the event.
Your rider pack contains:
Bike/Rider Number and Ties This is to be secured to the front
of your bike for en-route
identification, access to the
refreshment stations and entitlement
to the event support.
Timing Chip and Bike Clip This will allow us to record your
start and finish time for the event
and will be provided with
instructions on how to secure to
your bike. At registration you will
be asked for a fully refundable
deposit of 10 pounds. When you return
your timing chip and number at the end of the
ride, you will be given your 10
pounds
back. This deal is only available
on the day, we will not be sending
deposits back for chips sent by post
after the event.
Route map A large scale map
to act as a rough guide and allow
you to get back on track or find
your way back to Caryford Hall.
Ride guide A check list of
equipment you may require and
essential information about the
ride, including emergency numbers
Camping Pass This pass will
enable you locate your pitch and to
use the Toilet and shower facilities
at the leisure centre adjacent to
the camp site. Camping is at the event area as in
previous years and within 5 mins
walk of Castle Cary Town centre.
Car
Parking
When you first arrive for
registration please park in the area
of the car park marked registration,
The car park will be signed and
have stewards, please follow their
directions.

In
order that the event gets underway
with the minimum of fuss, you must
arrive at the start as early as
possible. On arrival go to the start
holding zone. From here you will
move continuously towards the start
zone and be sent away in a group of
approximately 50 riders, at two
minute intervals.
Please ride slowly as you exit the
event area and take particular care
when in a group. Please listen to the
announcements and follow the
instructions of the marshals.
Signage
The
routes are comprehensively signed,
with specific
yellow
and black
event signs for the 95mile, (day
1) 107 mile route (Day 2) and 130
mile route (day 3). The 50 mile
route is signed with
blue
and black
event signs and the 25 mile route is
signed with
Red
and black
event signs.
There will be large scale route maps
available in your rider pack, as a
rough guide. They are also
available on the event website
(www.tourofwessex.coml)
Safety
Points
You
will be riding on the open road
alongside other traffic so it is
essential for your own safety and
that of all other road users that
you comply with ALL TRAFFIC
REGULATIONS
Please ensure you obey any
instructions given by the route
marshals and pay particular
attention at traffic lights,
roundabouts and difficult turns.
As
we are providing back-up facilities
we must insist that your supporters,
friends and family do not bring any
vehicles out on the route to follow
you as this will create congestion
and will be a danger to cyclists and
other road users.
In
the Event of an Accident -
If
you are involved in a serious
accident requiring immediate medical
attention then ring 999, then the
above First Aid number. The route
is being patrolled by National
Escort Group riders and there are
also basic 1st Aid kits
at each of the feed stations.

First Aid
We
strongly recommend that you add
these numbers to your mobile phone
and keep with you at all times
during the event. Please do not use
these numbers inappropriately.
There are cut-off times at which
the marshals will stand down. The
sweep vehicle will be travelling
along the route at 20kmh/12.5 mph.
If it catches up with you, you can
either be transported to the finish
or be asked to remove your number
and carry on at your own pace.
N.B. The signage will be removed
after the sweep vehicle has passed,
so you will have to navigate your
own route, you will also no longer
be covered by the event support
services. If you do this, or
drop-out at any other stage, then
you must call
07927 400 464 to report this
to the event team.
Riders
Code of Conduct -
You
will be riding on public roads, so
you must obey Highway Code
regulations. Any rider seen not
complying with the code will be
reported and may be subject to
sanctions including being reported
to the police and being banned from
future events.
Litter
-
There will be litter and recycling
skips at all venues and refreshment
stations. Please use them and do not
drop any litter anywhere.
